Day 12... Saturday, May 15, 2010

While writing this I realized that I have been off on the date the whole trip! Haha…its hard to keep track! But today was a really fun day! We got to play santa clause for the day. We woke up early and moved a bunch of stuff in the container. Than we were off.

We first stopped at a hospital in the territory of the tsunami tragedy and dropped off some supplies. While we were traveling to the hospital we had a bunch of t-shirts, basketballs, volleyballs, and rugby balls. We had the side door of our van open because it was so HOTT! And we threw out the things to people on the side of the road. They were shocked when we gave them things. They at first didn’t know what to do because they had never been in that situation before. It was a very humbling experience watching a t-shirt make someone so happy. To see their thankful face’s was unforgettable.

So after the hospital we went around seeing the destruction of the tsunami which was very emotional. There were houses torn down, boats in trees, and cars in lakes. It’s been about a year since it happened and I can't even believe of how it was went the disaster actually occurred. Vanessa my host mom told me that when it happened the smell was so bad, it smelled like dead rotting fish and dead people which caused her to become really sick after. While we were driving we distributed things to the bishops of wards in the villages, they were very grateful.

After we were done delivering the things we went to the BEACH! J It was so much fun, we went tanning and snorkeling. I saw a blue starfish and also one with spikes on it! It was really cool but also scary because I’m afraid of fish! But after the beach we went back to Uncle Sam’s house and we made spaghetti and ate it! Thanks to Garf and Trick. And the best part was we got ice cream after!

It turned out to be a very memorable day!.
