Kia Ora!
Today was our Sunday, Mother's Day, and "day of rest." It was also one of our most spiritual days thus far on the trip. We were able to participate in the only Young Single Adult Ward in New Zealand. I think the Kiwi's liked having us there (besides the fact that the sacrament meeting went about 30 minutes over!). Rachel was our first speaker, and brought tears to all our eyes when she talked about the blessings of the temple, then we had our first of three musical numbers. Kayli and Erica spoke on their mothers and did excellent jobs! Jess came to the rescue when all of Sarah's music started falling of the piano while Lindsey (aka our new American Idol for the team) was singing. Coach once again brought us to the edge with his talk, then the Stake President proceeded to tell us a 10 minute rugby story and was miraculously able to relate it back to Christ! Gotta love church in New Zealand! We were all crowned princesses in Relief Society, homemade crowns and all.
There was a linger longer after church, where I discovered my new love for Potatoe and Meat pies, and Patti and Rachel devoured an entire pack of Tim Tam's! I'm pretty sure the bishopric of the ward wanted to marry us all off to their young men because you could notice them kinda hearding us towards the groups of boys. Those of us with rings on our fingers stuck to getting to know the girls, but Dani vows she's going to bring home a prize trophy rugby player for a souvenir!
We went as a team to the Church Visitor Center across from the temple for an hour or so after church. The temple here is beautiful! We were trying to get a picture of the entire group in front of the temple, and had a good laugh when we gave the missionary couples at the visitors center our cameras to take pictures. These poor older couples had no idea what to do with a digital camerea especially Megan's high tech one! Jaicee was able to catch the whole thing on film haha.
The visitor's center had the "Reflections of Christ" collection by Mark Mabry hanging throughout it, and the slideshow of it playing in their theatre. That was my favorite part, the pictures and music were so moving, and once again brought tears to my eyes. It's something special that we could share that experience as a team.
The rest of the night we got to spend with our families. Jaicee and I are staying with the Harris family, and they're the best! They had their whole extended family over, which reminded me a lot of home and Mother's Day. Once again we were fed like queens, and the food was AMAZING! Altogether it was a great Sunday in Temple View.
Signing out!
