Friday, May 14, 2010... Day 11

Hi everyone!

Lindsay here is getting around to the blog finally!
So can I just say the weather had been…uh…hUmIiD and HOoooOOOooooOOOOttTttT!!! Not the best conditions for my crazy curly hair. I’m telling you, I haven’t been able to tame my hair yet! It’s curly and frizzy and it just never seems to get dry! It’s awesome!! Hehe…Don’t worry fam...I’m sure you’ll see all of my beautiful pictures soon! Ugghh:/

So it is Friday today and we had a packed schedule yet once again. To kick off the day we all met at cousin Sam’s house in the morning at 8 o’clock looking quite spiffy in our nice lava lavas as we were about to give an assembly at the Church College of Pesega. When we got there the little children acted as if they had never seen a palagi (white girl) haha and they treated us like celebrities! It was as if they were star stricken!! WOW. To kick of the assembly, the children of the school sang for us a few songs. These songs were honestly the most beautiful songs I have ever heard! To hear the voices of these adorable children and see the light in their eyes was definitely an amazing thing to experience. It is quite incredible to see the how these children interact with each other and with us. We definitely felt that they truly loved us. So after they sang Chelsea Fa and Jaicee spoke for a few minutes, which was amazing by the way, and then coach got up and entertained everyone like he always does! It was hilarious! J When the whole thing was done we started to take pictures with the kids and they ATTACKED us!!!!! We were able to get a lot of pictures of these amazing children.

After the assembly we headed over to visit with the head of state! His house was very grand and beautiful! After we had done our greetings we all sat down in a big room and just visited for a while. We were all served a little sandwich, meet pie, an egg quiche and water. The experience was amazing and I don’t think anyone will ever forget it. This man was a very gracious and humble and he made us feel very welcome in his home.
Sam's Family Cemetery... we met his beloved father

After this fabulous morning we ended the day at the beautiful beach of Sinalei.

It was a wonderful day together!
Love everyone back at home!!
